A simple digital tool for preliminary rock and mineral identification.
ATBUGeo analyses a specimen photograph and provides a structured preliminary geological interpretation, including likely identification, visible features, alternatives and recommended confirmatory tests.
What ATBUGeo is designed to do
ATBUGeo is a final-year Applied Geology project developed to examine how artificial intelligence can support preliminary geological specimen identification.
The system is designed as an assistant, not a replacement for geological judgement or laboratory analysis. Its purpose is to support learning, field observation and first-stage classification.
Three simple steps
Upload
Provide a clear photograph of a rock, mineral or other geological specimen.
Analyse
AI evaluates visible features such as colour, texture, lustre and grain characteristics.
Confirm
Use recommended field, physical or laboratory tests to confirm important results.
